Tips for finding a good auditor, LOOK FOR:
A LOCAL FIRM – this will save you money as you are not paying excessive amounts of money for their travel time and who knows they might even drop in while passing by and say “hello”.
QUALIFED AUDITORS – a Registered Company Auditor and either a Chartered Accountant or a CPA, it really doesn’t matter as long as they are qualified.
A FIXED FEE FOR THREE YEARS – most accounting firms will give you a really fantastic quote for the first year to get your business and then double or triple your audit fee over the next few years. Don't get caught.
HOURLY CHARGE OUT RATES – don’t be affair to ask it’s your money. Do you really feel comfortable paying a $120 an hour for a graduate auditor?
SEND OUT AT LEAST THREE INVITIATONS - Treat it like any other tender and most importantly take your time.
